Mysterious new trailer for Black Mirror teases “unpleasant” Season Four

Back to black

One of the best, boldest and darkest TV shows of our time is returning.

A show like no other, Black Mirror turns our deepest fears around the future, technology and society and reflects them right back at us. The show moved to Netflix for its third season, perhaps the best one yet, which tugged at our heartstrings with episodes like ‘San Junipero’, as well as generally scaring the bejeezus out of us.

Earlier today, a mysterious trailer for Season Four dropped, giving little away but immediately ramping up our excitement levels, as all the best trailers do.

The trailer drops evocative words and phrases, which presumably are episode titles, such as ‘Crocodile’, ‘Hang the DJ’, ‘Arkangel’ and ‘Black Museum’. Interspersed are snippets from the episodes, and there’s a lot of ground covered: everything from a Star Trek-like set to weird, glowing contraptions strapped to people’s heads.

Previously speaking of the fourth season, which will have six new episodes, Charlie Brooker said there would be an overall theme of “unpleasantness”.

“We did a lot of different genre pieces in the last season and we’re doing the same again this year,” Brooker said. “But we’re also tackling style and tones that we haven’t done before.”

Black Mirror is coming back. Back in black.
