Kel from Kenan and Kel is alive and has a beard nowadays

The teen star looks unrecognisable from his time on the Nickelodeon show.

They grow up so fast, don’t they?

Remember the guy who played Bernard in Bernard’s Watch? Looks completely different nowadays. The actor who played Ben Mitchell before the current guy? The same. Even Neil from Art Attack has gone and completely changed up his #PersonalBrand, swapping his trademark red jumper for all black and playing guitar in a metal band.

And, as you can probably imagine, it’s not just British stars who have moved on to unexpected career paths and looks – the Americans are in on it too.

Kel Mitchell – probably known best to you for loving Orange Soda – rose to fame alongside comedy partner Kenan Thompson, starring in the Kenan & Kel show, which aired between 1996 and 2000.

His life is a lot different today. For one he’s now a dad, having shared a hilarious image of him and his wife last February, announcing a little Kel was on the way.

Sharing an image on social media, he wrote: “We have a bun in the over! Thank you Asia Lee for being the best wife to me, the best friend to me, and now the best mom to our blessed baby! I love you so much.”

But this might have come as a shock to anybody prone to believing urban legends, as the star has been subject to a number of online ‘death hoaxes’. Although judging by his attitude in interviews, Mitchell took it well, considering.

In an interview with The Atlantic he previously explained how posts on Twitter claiming he had passed away had meant he had to reassure distant relatives that he was alive, as their phone calls poured in.

“As soon as they called and I picked up, I think they figured it out,” Mitchell said. “It was kind of laughable, you know what I mean? It’s laughable, but at the same time, it’s a serious matter. It’s shocking to me that someone would sit there and say someone else died.”

He still works as a professional comedian, and despite having seen less of Keenan following their show coming to an end, the two have recently reconnected. “We call each other and text each other all the time,” Thompson told the Huffington Post.

Probably the hardest thing for any fans to get their head around will be what he looks now. The 39-year-old now has a beard, meaning he now looks a lot different than how you might remember from the telly when you were growing up.

Is that even the same guy?
