Plot's it all about? Back in 2004, the first Incredibles movie came out, and came an instant hit, and a kind of precursor to the current trend of self-aware superhero movies. It made some serious bank ($633 million), won two Oscars - including Best Animated Feature - and remains to this day one of the best movies that Pixar ever created.
Writer/director Brad Bird (who kicked off his career with animated classics like The Iron Giant and some of the best episodes of The Simpsons) moved on to live-action blockbusters - Tomorrowland, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol - but always had intentions to return to the Incredible family and see how things were getting on in their world.
And now, finally, we have our first look at the sequel, which Bird has stated will focus more on Elastigirl this time around, telling the audiences at D23 this year: "There's an issue with the family's house. So, the family has to get a new house. As you can see, it's kind of a cross between a dream house and a super lair -- a secret agents house or something. Water flows throughout the whole building and its made almost entirely of sharp corners which is not ideal for a baby."
This new teaser doesn't show much of that - just Jack-Jack showing off some of his powers, which we got a glimpse of at the end of the first movie - but it is enough to get us very excited!
With new voice cast members Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) and Catherine Keener (Get Out) joining the already impressive voice-cast, we can't wait to see this on the big screen next summer!
Starring: Holly Hunter, Craig T. Nelson, Samuel L. Jackson, Bob Odenkirk, Catherine Keener.
Directed by: Brad Bird
Irish release date: 13 July 2018
