Going off early reviews, we might have just found 2018’s best horror movie

2018 is going to be a great year for scary movie fans.

It was only a few weeks ago when we were talking about Gabriel Byrne’s new horror movie Hereditary, which early audiences described as “the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages”, but it looks like it might have some stiff competition for the title of scariest movie of the year.

Writer and director of the movie John Krasinksi took to the stage with his co-star and wife Emily Blunt at the SXSW festival this weekend after the screening of his directorial debut A Quiet Place, and to say it went well is a bit of an understatement…

In case you don’t already know, the movie deals with a mostly-unseen monstrous presence that hunts entirely based on sound, so Krasinksi, Blunt and their two kids leave a minimal, silent life in the woods, until they become the focus of the creature and are forced into horrific situations in order to survive.

Yeah, we’re pretty excited now.

A Quiet Place arrives in Irish cinemas on Friday 4 May.
