Ocean’s Fourteen is reportedly in the works

George Clooney and Brad Pitt set to return for the next installment in the Ocean’s franchise.

If you aren’t familiar with the story behind Warner Bros heist film series, then allow us to fill you in.

Ocean’s 11 came out in 1960, starring Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., and it was fundamentally NOT a good movie.

Jump forward to 2001, and this was remade as Ocean’s Eleven, with Clooney and Pitt and Matt Damon, and it was fundamentally a VERY good movie.

This then led to 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve (not good), 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen (better, but not as good as Eleven), and 2018’s sorta spin-off, Sandra Bullock-led Ocean’s 8 (decent, but not as good as Eleven or Thirteen).

Since then, there have been reports of a prequel being in the works, starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie.

But it sounds like along with this, Ocean’s Fourteen may be on the way as well, with Clooney and Pitt reprising their roles.

Deadline reports that “momentum is building” on the next installment in the franchise, with sources saying the two actors are coming back.

Meanwhile, Edward Berger, who received acclaim for his work on the Oscar-winning All Quiet on the Western Front, is being courted to direct the film.

Along with Clooney and Pitt returning, Deadline’s The Dish claims some of the other stars of the original, such as Matt Damon and Casey Affleck could return for the project.

Work has been going on between Warner Bros and production company Smokehouse. Whilst promoting his film ‘The Boys in the Boat’ last December, Clooney said a “great script” exists for Ocean’s Fourteen.

He added that it was “kind of like ‘Going in Style.'”
