None of the original cast had been confirmed as of yet

Sigourney Weaver has appeared to confirm she is returning for the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel, in an interview with Parade Magazine.

She even seemed to also indicate that Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd were also set to appear.

As stated in the interview:

“She’s also set to reunite with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the new Ghostbusters, due July 2020. ‘It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!’ she says. She won’t reveal any details except to confirm she’s reprising her role as hauntee Dana Barrett.”

The as-yet-untitled sequel is set to be released in 2020, and is a direct sequel. It was announced earlier this year, and will apparently ignore the events of the 2016 reboot featuring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

A brief trailer was also released, which told us very little about the movie.

The new film will be directed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman.
