Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer have reportedly been cast to star in a new film centred around the story of legendary heroic outlaw Robin Hood.
The project, which has the working title The Death Of Robin Hood, is due to start filming in February 2025.
According to Deadline, the film is set to be a darker reimagining of the story, and will be directed by American filmmaker Michael Sarnoski.
The Deadpool & Wolverine and Killing Eve stars have seemingly been attached to the project already, and Arrival and The Prestige producer Aaron Ryder is said to be among the producing team.
In terms of the story, industry insiders suggest the film will portray the outlaw as a battle-worn loner (Jackman) grappling with his past after a life of murder and crime.
While badly injured, he finds himself in the hands of a mysterious woman (Comer), who offers salvation.
Speaking to the Hollywood-based publication, Sarnoski said: "It has been an incredible opportunity to reinvent and freshly innovate the story we all know of Robin Hood.
"Securing the perfect cast to transform the script to screen was essential," he added.
"I could not be more thrilled and trusting in Hugh and Jodie to bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way.
It's certainly not the first time the English folk tale will be adapted for the big screen.
Another version is currently in the pipeline called Robin and the Hood. It's due to air on Sky and will star James Bond's Naomie Harris and Game of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie.
Kevin Costner famously starred in the titular role in the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which also starred the late Alan Rickman, Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman.
Jackman will soon appear in Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine, where he will return to the role of Wolverine.
The Shawn Levy directed project released a teaser trailer last week.
