It’s another hit for Benoit Blanc

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story has become the third most-watched Netflix original film of all time.

The film was released on the platform on December 23 and is the much-anticipated sequel to Rian Johnson’s critically-acclaimed 2019 murder mystery Knives Out.

Just like with the first installment, Johnson wrote and directed Glass Onion, which sees Daniel Craig return as master detective Benoit Blanc as he takes on a brand new case, revolving around tech millionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and his closest friends.

Blanc is invited to Bron’s Greek island to play a murder mystery game, where he meets all of the millionaire’s pretty unlikeable mates.

Once again, the film features an all-star cast including the likes of Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista, along with a few fantastic cameos, which we won’t spoil for you.

Following its release, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story has managed to rack up an incredible 209.4 million hours watched.

This puts it ahead of previous Netflix original hit films such as The Grey Man and Bird Box.

The only films sitting ahead of Glass Onion now are Don’t Look Up and Red Notice.

Satirical disaster film Don’t Look Up is number two in the most-watched chart. The film was released in December 2021 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep.

Directed by Adam McKay, it garnered 359.8 million hours viewed within its first 28 days on the streaming platform.

The number one film is Red Notice, which was also released in 2021. It holds the record for being the platform’s most-watched English language film with 364 million hours viewed in its first month.

After its huge success, it wasn’t long before fans were quickly calling for a sequel to the action-comedy mashup, which sees Johnson play Special Agent John Hartley who is on the hunt for prolific art thief Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds), whilst Gadot stars as Booth’s biggest rival.
