Another sports show has become the latest institution to be axed by the BBC, following Football Focus’s end earlier this year.
The show delivered the latest alpine skiing coverage alongside a diverse range of other winter sports since airing its debut in 1978.
The show’s famous "Pop Looks Bach" theme tune, was first presented by David Vine and Ron Pickering, and most recently hosted by Ed Leigh and alpine ski racer Chemmy Alcott.
Ski Sunday will surely be missed by many after 5 decades of runtime.
“Ski Sunday has been a truly iconic programme,” said the head of BBC Sport events, Philip Bernie.
"Generations of viewers have enjoyed its coverage of the best in winter sports,” he added.
"We are enormously proud of the role it has played in bringing these moments to audiences across the UK.
"These decisions are never easy, but as audience viewing habits evolve and we work to deliver value for licence fee payers, we have to make tough choices.
"We remain committed to bringing audiences the very best of winter sport, above all at the Winter Olympics, across BBC Sport's platforms."
The show was shown on BBC Two every Sunday afternoon, bringing fans action primarily from the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
Ski Sunday was a winter sports staple, airing for six to 10 episodes from January to March.
