Sacha Baron Cohen’s new secret Ali G movie reveals first look

Coming to cinemas very soon, the film will see Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno) make his directorial debut.

Titled Ali G: Who Iz I?, the. mockumentary film will see Oscar-nominee Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno) reprise the role that launched him to fame, once again playing the faux-streetwise wannabe rapper and "voice of da yoof" from the west side of Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey

The plot synopsis for the comedy reads:

"After 20 years spent “chillin’, tokin’ and bonin’”, Ali G is shocked to discover that his long-term girlfriend, Julie (Morgana Robinson), is eight months pregnant.

"Faced with an extra mouth to feed, he gets off his batty and heads to America to reclaim his former glory… but soon encounters adversaries who will ultimately threaten his and his child’s very existence."

Baron Cohen will make his directorial debut with Ali G: Who Iz I?

Rumours of the movie began to spread in July 2025 after the actor had been spotted, in character as Ali G, filming in public.

A year later, it was reported that the Oscar-nominee had shot a new Ali G film in secret. This makes it the character's second big-screen outing after 2002's Ali G Indahouse.

In keeping with the actor and comedian's previous work, this new movie will see Baron Cohen donning his Ali G disguise and interacting with real members of the public.

Ali G: Who Iz I? will be released in cinemas on 23 October.
