It has since emerged the 31-year-old was in the Lincolnshire seaside town to make a "meet and greet" club appearance and turn on the Christmas lights. Footage captured in the Hive - a late-night complex - shows Miller being knocked to the ground by a bouncer.
But it's claimed the Emmerdale actor, known for playing Aaron Livesy, was actually sticking up for a pal who was reportedly targeted with "disturbing" homophobic abuse.
The Hive said security staff at the venue had intervened but were "unaware" Miller was "standing up" for his friend - and the situation escalated.

Representatives for Miller were approached for comment on Wednesday but are yet to respond.
Quarry worker Brandon Driver was partying in the club and saw the situation unfold.
The 20-year-old said: "I was just out with some of my mates for the night and I was the only person to get out my camera quick enough to film what happened.
"I don't know if [Miller] was injured. It was a hard slam against the wall though, and he did seem to hit his head."
Miller had been advertised online as appearing at Kush Nightclub, which is part of the Hive.
Pictures after the event, posted on Facebook, show the actor posing with fans.
He also turned on the Christmas lights in Skegness on 26 November.
In years past the winner of the previous series of I'm A Celeb has crowned the latest champ - leading to questions as to why Miller was not Down Under.
Danny later spoke about this year's final on his Instagram, posting: "Congratulations @jillscottjs8!
"What a worthy winner. You had the votes in our household."
Lioness Scott, 35, beat Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner, 23, and Matt Hancock, 44, to be named Queen of the Jungle 2022.
The Hive, which contains seven venues, said of the footage: "We are aware of the incident and the initial details are as follows. "We stress that these are initial findings and investigations are still ongoing.
"Danny was in a booth enjoying the evening with some friends, some clubbers were allowed in the booth from time to time to take pictures with Danny.
"At some point a clubber who had come into the booth, was at first joking, but then became verbally abusive to a member of Danny's party and made some very disturbing homophobic comments. "The member of the party was clearly distressed and Danny tried to calm the situation down.
"The door staff proceeded to remove the offending individual but he continued to make homophobic comments.
"Some members of the door-staff team were unaware that Danny was in fact standing up for one of his party against homophobic comments and this sadly let to an unfortunate escalation of the situation."
