Tommy Fury has announced a major career move as he has signed on to act in an upcoming film alongside Peaky Blinders star Paul Anderson and Green Street actor Leo Gregory.
The Love Island runner-up will be taking some time away from the ring to earn his acting chops on the set of The Debt Inherited.
According to Variety, the project will be directed by newcomer Danny Sawaf. Sawaf is the founder and CEO of award-winning movie distribution and production company Oceana Studios.
Oceana is the production company behind 2022's Big Gold Brick starring Megan Fox and Oscar Isaac, and 2021's The Birthday Cake which starred Val Kilmer and Jeremy Allen White.
The 25-year-old boxer and reality TV star announced the news on his Instagram, and wrote: "THE DEBT INHERITED. PEOPLE DIE. DEBTS DON’T.⚰️
"So excited to announce I’ll be making my acting debut in - THE DEBT INHERITED. Great cast, cannot wait to start shooting🎬. Massive thanks to @dannysawaf and @oceanastudios looking forward to working with you all🙏🏼"
The script was written by Niki Sheldrake (The House That Zombies Built) tells the story of Colin and Stanley, two good-for-nothing brothers who are faced with the repayment of their dead father’s debt to a notorious loan shark named Maggie.
Anderson, who is best known for playing Arthur Shelby in Steven Knight's colossal Peaky Blinders, will play Terry, a womanising alcoholic who employs the brothers to stop his work colleague Dirk (Gregory) from exposing him to his wife as a cheat.
Fury will play Johnny – a no-nonsense henchman to Maggie.
The news comes at a great time for Tommy, who celebrated his 25th birthday on 7th May.
He seemed to celebrate it a day late by posting a clip on his Instagram story yesterday enjoying some cake doused in custard with daughter Bambi. The clip was captioned: "My absolute world".
