Christopher Nolan is ‘definitely’ interested in directing a James Bond movie

Paul Moore

The Batman director adapting Bond. This would be special.

With Dunkirk earning absolutely stellar reviews, Christopher Nolan has once again confirmed his status as one of the most gifted filmmakers in Hollywood.

Then again, anyone who has followed the career of the British-American director knew that he was supremely talented, but it’s arguable that his greatest gift is making Hollywood blockbusters seem intelligent, daring and groundbreaking.

There’s also a certain old-school vibe to Nolan’s persona because he rarely seeks the limelight, apart from when he has a new film to promote.

With this in mind, the director has given a fascinating interview with Playboy where he discusses the rigors of shooing Dunkirk, the legacy of his Dark Knight trilogy and his future plans.

As you may know, Nolan has made no secret of his love for James Bond – in fact, he has previously been linked with the director’s chair on a 007 adventure – and his recent comments will delight anyone that loves the James Bond saga.

When asked by Playboy “Are you still tempted by the prospect of doing your own Star Wars or James Bond movie?,” here’s what he said.

“A Bond movie, definitely. I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson over the years. I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out. You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well.”

With recent reports speculating that Daniel Craig will once again pick up the Walther PPK, could he be teaming up with the man that made Batman brilliant again?

We live in hope of being shaken and stirred.

Dunkirk is released in cinemas on July 21st.
