New episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine are finally coming to Netflix UK in early 2019

About damn time

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of the finest sitcoms of the modern era.

While it initially appeared to be just the adventures of Andy Samberg’s Detective Jake Peralta, it quickly become one of the best ensembles shows around. Every single one of Samberg’s co-stars – Stephanie Beatriz, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Chelsea Peretti, Andre Braugher – are all equally as important as each other (Don’t worry, Scully and Hitchcock, we love you too).

The show is incredibly inventive and fast-paced, and has also won a lot of deserved praise for its diverse cast.

The fifth season has already been on E4 (the sixth season hits US TV next year), but it seems like most of its British fandom comes from people watching the show on Netflix.

And the streaming service only has the first four seasons.

It seems like ages since new episodes have been uploaded – but Netflix UK has tweeted that season five is finally coming early next year.

“we’ll have new b99 in early 2019 and as SOON as we have exact dates you’ll be first to know x”

Finally.

While they didn’t give an exact date, hopefully this will be the perfect cure for the post-Christmas blues in January.

Netflix also confirmed that season four of Peaky Blinders will also hit the streaming service in December.

Earlier this year, it looked like Brooklyn Nine-Nine would be cancelled, after Fox, the network that airs the show, announced they were not renewing it.

That decision was met, as you might expect, with tons of anger, despair and shock. Campaigns to save it popped up almost instantly, and thankfully God, the universe, and mostly importantly NBC, saw sense – with that network deciding to pick up the show.

It’s not all been roses since though – Chelsea Peretti, who has played administrative assistant Gina Linetti since the sitcom’s launch, will not be returning as a series regular in season six.
