Prime Video has just added one of the best war movies ever

A recent poll saw the film voted the 'fourth best war movie of all time'.

Prime Video has just added Black Hawk Down, which was recently named one of the greatest war films of all time.

Directed by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator) and based on actual events, the movie takes place in 1993 as the US send special forces into Somalia to destabilise the government and bring food and humanitarian aid to the starving population.

"Using Black Hawk helicopters to lower the soldiers onto the ground, an unexpected attack by Somalian forces brings two of the helicopters down immediately," the plot synopsis reads.

"From there, the US soldiers must struggle to regain their balance while enduring heavy gunfire."

With Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor, Josh Hartnett, Sam Shepard, Tom Sizemore and William Fichtner leading a truly massive supporting cast, the authentic performances -alongside Scott's gritty and immersive action sequences - are extremely effective in capturing the chaos of war.

This is so much so that the film was recently voted the fourth best war movie of all time on the website Ranker, with only Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan in the No. 1 spot polling ahead of it.
