Bill Murray singing the Bare Necessities is the perfect way to round off your week

We wish Bill Murray was our real dad.

The legendary comic actor has become something of an American international institution with his deadpan humour and willingness to get involves in all sorts of larks, usually to the utter joy of unsuspecting fans.

He is to feature as Baloo in Disney’s upcoming live-action version of The Jungle Book this year, alongside a frankly ludicrous cast including Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken and Lupita Nyong’o.

Promoting the movie with co-star Neel Sethi (Mowgli) on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Murray was asked whether he’d be willing to perform perhaps the most widely-loved tune from the Jungle Book soundtrack, The Bare Necessities.

Never one to shirk such an invitation, Murray duly obliged – and how. It’s a truly brilliant rendition – although bonus points must go to Sethi. Despite being obviously tone-deaf, the game youngster still belts out his lines like a pro…
