Amir Khan donates some of his I’m A Celeb appearance fee to charity

Khan's fee is said to be significantly larger than that of some of his campmates

It was recently revealed that Amir Khan earned the most of any of 2017’s I’m A Celeb contestants.

The Bolton-born boxer, who was booted out of the show on Friday night, reportedly pocketed £300,000 for entering the show – dwarfing some of the fees received by some of his campmates.

Having now left the show ahead of this weekend’s final, it’s been revealed that the 31-year-old has donated some of his fee to Barnardo’s – the children and young people’s charity of which he is an ambassador.

Javed Khan, the charity’s chief executive, is quoted in The Sun as saying: “I am very grateful to Amir Khan for this fantastic gift and his continued support as an ambassador for Barnardo’s, which helps thousands of vulnerable children, young people, carers and parents every year.

“It’s exactly the generosity of people like Amir that make it possible for us to provide our network of vital services across the length and breadth of the UK. We wish Amir well in the jungle and will follow his progress.”

Khan’s departure from the show leaves Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, Made in Chelsea star Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffollo, radio host Iain Lee and Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine in the final four.
