It comes after police in Valencia were alerted to the rape of an Irish man in June
Police are investigating a double rape of two British men in Valencia, Spain.
Detectives were contacted by the alleged victims on Sunday, after the two men woke up from a night out to find themselves in a hotel room near a shopping centre in the city.
The men were examined at Valencia’s La Fe Hospital and were found with injuries to their private parts consistent with a rape. They think they were spiked whilst out partying.
Police are now probing a wave of alleged spiking incidents at nightclubs and festivals across the country.
On Tuesday, it emerged that Civil Guard officers covering Valencia had been made aware of five incidents involving needle injections, though they said no chemical substances had been found in the complainants’ blood streams, The Sun reports.
It was only in June that police were alerted to the alleged rape of a 28-year-old Irish tourist, also in Valencia, who said he was sexually assaulted on the last night of his holiday there.
The incident has been widely reported, though local authorities, including the National Police of Valencia, are yet to officially comment.
