The woman told police she had met the American tourist at one of the Greek island's bars. The woman, her alleged attacker, and a group of friends then returned to the hotel to continue the party.
However the 30-year-old man, supposedly from a wealthy New York family, followed her into the toilet where he forced her to have sex with him after she explained that she was "not in the mood." The woman claims he ignored her pleas and raped her while the man says everything happened with her consent.
The woman has undergone a physical examination which will be sent to the Prosecutor's Office in Syros alongside a case file.
This comes just weeks after a 17-year-old was attacked by two men described as "a famous Vietnamese actor and musician."
The young woman was attacked in Andratx, South West Majorca, where she had been talking to the pair at a nearby restaurant before returning to their hotel. While the men have not been named, reports from local media say their ages are 42 and 37.
The pair were arrested and then released on bail before being forbidden from leaving Spain. The British teenager left the island with their family.
