An incredible record
There are few guarantees in the world of television. A series can be one of the most eagerly-anticipated in years, but when it finally lands it falls flat on its face.
Or maybe everyone is raving about a show, but you gave it a go and just didn't understand the hype. It's all subjective after all.
But maybe there is one guarantee in television: if Pedro Pascal has a starring role in a series it will, without a shadow of a doubt, be very good.
Because, after the premiere of
The Last of Us this week, Pascal has maintained his streak of never having starred in a TV show which has scored less than 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Last of Us has received acclaim from both critics and the general public. It currently holds a score on the review aggregator site of 99 percent -
a record for a live-action video game adaptation - and a marginally lower audience score of 96 percent.
You may be thinking that surely Pascal has had a starring role in at least one flop, but no - his record is remarkable.
The Mandalorian? 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Narcos? 89 percent. And, of course, Pascal starred as Oberyn Martell a.k.a. The Viper in season four of Game of Thrones, which has a score of 97 percent.
We won't dwell on how his time on the show came to an end.

Yes, Pascal's Mando did bizarrely take over
The Book of Boba Fett for a couple of episodes, a series which has a middling 66 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
But this wasn't a starring role in a series, so doesn't taint his unblemished record.
Basically, if you're looking for a leading man in your next major TV series, get Pedro Pascal on board. You can't fail.
