Bissouma will face no further action

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma has been cleared of all allegations of sexual assault and will face no further action.

Bissouma was arrested alongside a man in his 40s at a nightclub in Brighton on October 6, 2021 after police were called to the scene.

Sussex Police released a statement on Wednesday

The other man in question, who cannot be named for legal reasons, meanwhile had his bail extended until July 4, 2022. Bissouma initially had to amend his bail conditions in order to allow him to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations for Mali at the start of the year and investigations currently remain ongoing however he has been cleared of all allegations

A statement from Sussex Police on Wednesday said: “A man in his 40s from Brighton who was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault has had his conditional bail extended until July 4, 2022.

“A man in his 20s, also from Brighton, who was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault has been released with no further action to be taken.

Bissouma recently joined Tottenham

The 25-year-old spent four seasons at Brighton and Hove Albion before his £25m move to Tottenham this summer after the Seagulls chose to cash in on him with just one year left on his deal.

Bissouma had been of interest to the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal, with Villa failing in attempt to sign him in January but Antonio Conte’s side moved quickest to secure his signature.

He became the club’s third signing of the summer after they completed deals for goalkeeper Fraser Forster and Croatia international Ivan Perisic, who joined on a free transfer from Conte’s former club Inter Milan.
