We’re all aware of AS Roma’s many qualities as a football team. For decades they have been at the top of the Italian game, perhaps not winning as many titles as they might have, but always there or there abouts.
In recent months though, it’s been the club’s social media team rather than first eleven that have been making the headlines, and with good reason.
All summer long, the Giallorossi’s Twitter account has brought some showbiz to the usually drab and unimaginative world of transfer announcements.
In fact, their work has proved so popular that it essentially spawned a new genre: the funny football club transfer announcement video.
This has been both a blessing and a curse. We have been witness to some absolutely brilliant videos, such as Southampton’s Stuart Taylor resigning announcement and the ‘Come to Besiktas’ series, as well as some slightly more embarrassing attempts.
Arguably though it is Roma who have won the battle of the transfer announcement videos, and from that position of great authority and responsibility they have graced us with yet another gem in the form of the top 10 summer transfer announcement videos.
