Two of England’s best going head-to-head with each other

Harry Kane has revealed exactly what Jude Bellingham said in order to try and put him off his penalty in the Champions League semi final.

Kane and Bellingham would meet as opposites on the pitch on Tuesday night as Bayern Munich faced Real Madrid in the first leg.

Both teams played out a thrilling spectacle but couldn’t be separated, drawing 2-2 at the Allianz Arena.

Vinicius Jr put the away side in front in the first half before Bayern brought themselves back level thanks to a rocket from Leroy Sane.

Bayern completed a quick turnaround thanks to Kane’s spot kick but then lazy defending from Kim Min-jae gifted Madrid a penalty, allowing Vinicius Jr to grab a brace.

Kane reveals what was said

Over the years Kane has shown that he is able to block out the noise and focus on himself and he did that in Munich last night, despite Bellignham’s best efforts.

It was a rare bit of dark arts that we’ve not seen from the 20-year-old before. A harmless one though and something many other players do too.

Bellingham could be seen talking to the England captain in a bid to get into his head but the forward remained composed and slotted home to give Bayern the lead.

After the game Kane was asked about the incident and he revealed what the Madrid star had said to him.

“In the moment, I didn’t know what he said but I spoke to him after and he said: ‘I know you’re going to go left of the keeper’,” Kane explained.

“On the pitch, I knew he was there but I didn’t know what he said. But I went left anyway.

“It was nice for me because I saw the keeper go a little bit early and I put it away.”

Kane continues to break records

His strike was his 43rd goal in 43 games in all competitions and by getting himself on the scoresheet last night, set a new record for the most goal contributions from an Englishman in a Champions League campaign in a single season.

The Champions League is the only trophy Bayern can win this season after surrendering the Bundesliga title for the first time in 12 years to Bayer Leverkusen.

They were also knocked out of the DFB Pokal in the second round by third tier side Saarbrucken back in November.
