With two signings made so far this summer in Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, the Reds are attempting to make further signings and complete their shopping list.
Head Coach Andoni Iraola currently has two players in mind to add to the squad, and will attempt to make them using a loophole within Premier League rules.
PSG and France star Bradley Barcola has been deemed a great signing opportunity for Liverpool.
After a brilliant season with Paris, and a more than favorable trip to the World Cup, the Reds have been linked with the Frenchman in a potential big-money signing.
Additionally, Iraola is plotting to sign Barcola’s Parisian teammate and Senegalese national, Ibrahim Mbaye.
Mbaye became the World Cup’s youngest goal scorer at 18 years of age, in addition to 41 games played under Luis Enrique, the young star has shown lots of potential.
RMC Sports' Fabrice Hawkins said via X that Mbaye himself has given the green light to move to Anfield and talks are set to begin.
Under Premier League rules of home-grown spots, 18 year-old Mbaye would not yet be registered as a senior player.
The reason why this loophole matters to Liverpool is because the Premier League's home-grown spot rule tethers 8 young players to the club, typically home grown.
With an 18 year old Mbaye up their sleeve, Liverpool benefit from a proven young winger without filling up the bench aimlessly.
Should he sign, the young Senegalese would only be considered a senior player at 21 years old, or in the 2029-30 season.
Additionally, Mbaye would be considered a home-grown player, a bonus for the club.
Mbaye is currently valued at £35 million with a contract extending his stay at PSG until the 2028 season.
In contrast, Barcola’s signing can be expected at £85.6 million, if he were to sign for Liverpool over the summer.
However, seeing how the transfer market is moving over the summer, PSG are believed to value the Frenchman at a much higher price.
Nevertheless, if Liverpool manages to pull this monstrous deal, they will gain much needed growth on the wings with a current starting super star in Barcola, and a promising young star in Mbaye.
