British Grand Prix secures MotoGP future until 2028

A major boost for British motorsport

The race, which fans can still win British Grand Prix tickets to attend, returned to Silverstone in 2010 after a 24-year absence, having previously been held at Donington Park.

The Northamptonshire circuit also stages Formula 1 and the European Le Mans Series, and will rejoin the FIA World Endurance Championship schedule in 2027.

This year’s MotoGP race takes place on Sunday 9 August, the 12th of 22 rounds, with Italy’s Marco Bezzecchi, the 2025 Silverstone winner and currently fourth in the standings, set to defend his crown, BBC Sport reports.

“This extension underscores our commitment to two-wheel racing,” said Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle. “This renewed partnership secures our place as the undisputed home of elite international racing.”

MotoGP Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta added that the UK “remains one of the most important markets for MotoGP”, pointing to 11 different winners in the last 11 Grands Prix held at the circuit as evidence of its quality and unpredictability.
