Yokota moved to Germany as a teenager and has since played for FSV Frankfurt, Carl Zeiss Jena, Valmiera in Latvia and Gornik Zabrze in Poland, before a 2024 switch to Gent. Loan spells at Kaiserslautern and Hannover followed, and Hannover signed him permanently this summer off the back of five goals and four assists last term.

The winger strengthens attacking options for manager Derek McInnes, whose wide players last season were Djeidi Gassama and on-loan Tottenham forward Mikey Moore, since returned to his parent club.

McInnes said Yokota was a player Rangers “have been aware of for some time”, adding qualities to bolster his attack as the new era begins following a 1-1 opening draw at Dundee United, BBC Sport reported.
