A plane carrying the Arsenal women's team was forced to abandon it's take off after it burst into flames.
The Gunners were travelling back from their 2-2 draw against Wolfsburg in the Champions League at the Volkswagen Stadium on Sunday however were dealt a blow as key players Kim Little and Leah Williamson both suffered injures, the latter a long-term issue that has ruled her out of the World Cup
However hours after the performance, photos from Germany’s Braunschweig Wolfsburg Airport airport showed the Boeing 7373 in flames.
German newspaper BILD reported that the plane made a loud bang before taking off before passengers were quickly pulled off the plane after the pilot stopped it's take off.
A spokesperson for the airport told the German outlet after a bird struck the engine of the aircraft, causing it to set on fire while also confirming that nobody on board was hurt during the time of the incident.
Arsenal were subsequently forced to stay another night before being safely flown back to London on Monday morning by a replacement aircraft.
Jonas Eidevall's side face Wolfsburg in the second leg of their Champions League clash at the Emirates Stadium on May 1 and are eyeing up a return to their first European final since 2007.
