Quite literally burning money

A Leeds United fan spent £500 on Manchester United hospitality tickets before setting them on fire.

Leeds and Man United have a long, fierce rivalry with their meeting at Elland Road last season one of the biggest security operations, with over 900 police officers on duty.

For one fan, he wanted to show just how much he didn’t like the 13-time Premier League champions in a video that has since gone viral.

Posted to Twitter, the clip features a number of Leeds fans at a charity auction where one of them seemingly won an action where the prize was tickets in the hospitality area of Old Trafford.

After receiving them, the tickets were then set on fire and thrown into a paper bucket which was met with cheers and shouts from those in attendance.

In the background, the event announcer can be heard saying: “Can we have a chorus of ‘We Are Leeds'”, to which the rest of the audience duly respond.

The video received mixed reviews with some finding the burning of the tickets hilarious while others labelled it as being ‘cringe’.

One user tweeted: “Fully endorse this.”

“Very strange behaviour,” said one person.

Another tweeted: “Pure bitterness, I love it, we’ve spoiled most of their lives, enjoy the Championship.”

A fourth said: “What a silly man would of given him a chance to watch Prem football next season.”

“Love that,” wrote another.
