On Thursday, the First Lady Melania Trump made a surprise visit to the US/Mexico border, arriving in in McAllen, Texas under a heavy rain, her motorcade driving through deep water as it headed for the Upbring New Hope Children's Shelter, a federally-funded facility that houses around sixty children from Honduras and El Salvador, ages five to seventeen.
"This was 100% her idea. She absolutely wanted to come," Stephanie Grisham, the first lady's communications director, told reporters travelling with her to Texas.
However, it was what the First Lady wore while boarding the plane that got everyone's attention.
Yep, the back of her jacket reads 'I Don't Really Care, Do U?'
And seriously, NOBODY thought to mention that this might be the slightest bit insensitive?
When it was mentioned to Grisham, she responsed: "There was no hidden message. After today’s important visit to Texas, I hope this isn’t what the media is going to choose to focus on."
Well, we're sorry to be the ones to tell you this, but this is very much what everyone on Twitter has chosen to focus on:
