Mark Drakeford absolutely loses it with Tory rival in Senedd in rare angry outburst

‘What sort of world do you belong in?’

Mark Drakeford struggled to keep his cool in the Senedd after he was challenged on the health service by Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies.

Drakeford raised his voice and pointed his finger at Davies as he referred to the “mess” the Tories had made of budgets and the country’s reputation.

Those sitting around Drakeford nodded and banged their desks.

Drakeford said: “It is shocking. It is absolutely shocking to me that you think that you can turn up here this afternoon, with the mess that your party has made to the budgets of this country, to the reputation of this country around the world, that you promise those people that there will be more to come.

“And you think you turn up here this afternoon and claim some sort of moral high ground? What sort of world do you belong in?”

The Welsh Labour leader also defended health workers, saying to Davies: “You have chosen to use that language here this afternoon. And what do those people face? They face cuts to their pay because of the policy of your Government, and now they face cuts to the budgets that the health service itself will have at its disposal.”

It comes following a bruising few weeks for the Conservative Party.

A major new poll has predicted the complete annihilation of the Tories at the next general election – to the point where they wouldn’t even be the opposition party

If the poll played out at a real general election, the Labour Party would be set to gain an unprecedented 364-seat majority, leaving the current governing party with just 48 seats.

The Scottish National Party (SNP) would have 52 seats – making it the official opposition.

The data came from a ‘poll of polls’ conducted over the weekend, which sampled 11,538 people.
