He may have appeared on Question Time more than anyone else over the last couple of years, but Zia Yusuf isn’t getting any better in his performances – if anything, he’s getting worse.
This week, Reform UK’s spokesperson for home affairs made his fourth Question Time appearance of 2026 – and ninth since the 2024 general election – as he appeared on the panel alongside Labour’s Emma Reynolds, the Tories’ James Cartlidge, the Lib Dems’ Daisy Cooper and former Downing Street director of communications Alastair Campbell.
Unsurprisingly, Campbell and Yusuf didn’t exactly see eye-to-eye and clashed on several occasions.
In one exchange, Campbell tore into Yusuf and his Reform colleagues for conning the British public with Brexit.
On another occasion, the pair both accused each other of being liars.
Yusuf hit back by digging up decades-old lines about the Iraq War, with Cooper eventually intervening to break things up.
But it wasn’t just from his fellow panelists that Yusuf was given a tough time.
The Reform man looked particularly uncomfortable when an audience member asked how he and his party could possibly be planning to scrap net zero policies after the summer of extreme conditions the UK has just experienced.
Yusuf’s poor display didn’t finish when they the camera stopped rolling though by the sounds of things.
Following the programme’s broadcast, Campbell hit out at Yusuf for ‘legging it’ after the show instead of staying to toast Cooper, whose birthday it was.
Campbell wrote: “Very enjoyable evening in Warwick with an audience clearly supporting the idea that Brexit was a disaster and net zero is the only way to go.
“Nice of @libdemdaisy to be there on her birthday! We all drank to her health afterwards apart from @ZiaYusufUK who legged it with his status symbol bodyguard. Fascinating to see how he did not make a single positive argument for Brexit. They never do.”
Campbell added that Yusuf “has lovely shoes though, but a very weak handshake which is never a good sign in anyone.”
