A 17-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old boy have been killed in Tyrone, Northern Ireland, following what is reported a crush to get into a St. Patrick’s Day party.

The incident took place around 9.30pm on Sunday night outside the Greenvale Hotel in Cookstown, Tyrone.

Police Service of Northern Ireland Assistant Chief Constable Mark Hamilton told BBC News the following:

“Our preliminary investigations show there was a crush towards the front door of this hotel, and in that crush people seem to have fallen.

“There seemed to be a little bit of struggling going on to get people up off the ground and that might explain also why there was a report of some fighting.

“It is heartbreaking that an event which should have been fun for these youngsters on St Patrick’s night should end in such a terrible tragedy.”

It has been reported that one of the teenagers died at the scene, while the other two teenagers succumbed to their injuries later that night in hospital.

A number of other teenagers have also been taken to hospital for their injuries.
