Putin's 'Doomsday Radio' crackles to life after missile hits

The mysterious Cold War relic sent a sequence of cryptic messages hours after collision with Poland.

The events following the missile incident have deepened tensions between NATO and the Kremlin, with radio signals only leaving more questions posed than answered.

The ominous cyphers usually make little sense, with the latest including: BRIBETAKERS, SEXFAT, MONARCHIST, MOTEL, MUZOPAYUS, STEPENNY and LEVRETKA.

Another message included NEDOTEPA, which can roughly be translated to 'DUNCE'.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed yesterday that little data suggest that Russia deployed a North Korean missile in an attack, killing 6 in a small village.

Russian missiles and drone barrage across Ukraine are reported to have killed 10 civilians, including children, as stated by officials.

As NATO scrambled jet fighters in the early hours of Thursday 30 July, a crater has been formed in the western regions of Poland.

Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, says that the incident is being take very seriously, despite there being "absolutely no reason to believe that Poland was the target."

The radio, also known as "The Buzzer", is linked to Russia's Strategic Forces.

It is hypothesized that the radio is part of Russia's military command network, believing instructions to be transmitted to designated units through one-time codes.
