Putin releases startling footage after successfully test-launching hypersonic missile

“I’m gonna make a hypersonic missile for you” – Putin, probably, to the tune of ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’

Russia has successfully tested a hypersonic missile, part of a range of new weapons including another missile that President Vladimir Putin has declared “invincible” after announcing them earlier this month.

The Russian defence ministry has released dramatic footage of the Kinzhal missile -meaning “dagger” – detaching from a fighter jet before rocketing through the sky.

“The launch went according to plan, the hypersonic missile hit its target,” the ministry said, suspiciously, after not showing the hypersonic missile hitting its target.

The Kinzhal is reportedly able to travel at ten times the speed of sound and possess a range of 2,000km (1,200 miles).

Disappointingly, however, this missile doesn’t appear to be invincible. Putin only described it as “an ideal weapon”, which is exactly how you would describe something a bit less than ideal. It’s like when you get a haircut and tell the barber “that’s ideal that, thanks mate” even though you are absolutely devastated by it and you just want to go home and put on a hat and cry a bit.

This is exactly what that missile is, only with nuclear capabilities.
