Carney sent the room into laughter as he turned heads by mimicking Trump’s signature hand gestures.

He repeatedly used the Trump-style ‘accordion hands’ while highlighting a massive clean-energy project he compared to 18 Hoover Dams.

The playful swipe comes as US-Canada trade tensions remain strained.

In late August, as trade talks with Canada shambled toward collapse, Trump said that Canada needs the US and not the other way around.

“WE DON’T NEED CANADA, THEY NEED US!”, Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Early in his second term, Trump wanted Canada so entwined with the United States that he even set out to make it the 51st state.

Instead, he has driven Canada towards the European Union, with an invitation on Wednesday for Canada to become an “associate member”.

Recently, Carney even hit back at the White House after Trump continued efforts to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America.
