A tornado has been filmed off the coast of Majorca, the location of ITV series Love Island.

The huge waterspout was filmed yesterday by a local in the town of Banyalbufar on the west side of the Spanish holiday island. Authorities have issued a flood alert and there is a forecast for intense rainfall.

Love Island is recorded in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar.

Spanish emergency services warned people in Majorca that intense rains and flooding are expected on the island, as well as the present risk of mud slides.

The State Meteorogical Agency warned that the island could receive up to one and a half inches of rain in an hour.

A waterspout is an intense columnar vortex that occurs over a body of water, usually appearing as a funnel-shaped cloud, mostly starting in the tropics and subtropical areas.
