People on social media aren't all happy about the change
Instagram has changed its app so that users scroll from side-to-side rather than up and down, in a large overhaul of the social media platform's interface.
Users across the globe are reporting the app switched within the last hour. "Introducing a new way to move through posts," a pop-up message introducing the new feature reads. "Tap through posts, just like you tap through stories."
You now click through posts in a similar way to how Instagram Stories have previously worked, rather than the traditional up-and-down swiping movement.
The update has been rolled out for a large number of Instagram users at once on Thursday afternoon.
Rumours about the proposed move circulated earlier this year after a leak in October, though it had been believed the feature would be limited to the Explore tab.
"We're always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and bring you closer to the people and things you love," a spokesperson told TechCrunch at the time.
Many social media users weren't happy about the abrupt change and took to Twitter to voice their complaints.
