Gary Lineker has been adding his voice to the growing mood that we can't simply turn the other cheek to the suffering of refugees in need of help.
The former England captain and host of Match of the Day took to social media to voice his concerns about the plight of innocent people looking to escape conflict and persecution - only to face further condemnation upon arriving in Europe.
Lineker tweeted: "The images of the poor refugees are sickening. As is the 'I'm alright Jack, they'll ruin things for us if we let them in' attitude of some."

He was far from alone in his principled sentiments as others responded in support of his comments...

It is not the first time that Lineker has been supportive of people entering the country and
making a positive contribution to the nation's economy and culture.
