UK bakery Greggs came in for some serious controversy last year when they started selling vegan sausage rolls, but there’s no doubt that lots of people out there are always looking for ways they can consume less meat.

Aldi has announced that they’ll be adding vegan sausages to their shelves, starting Tuesday 28 May.

The flavours on offer include Red Pepper & Butternut Squash Sausages (£1.49), made with yellow split peas, red pepper, roast butternut squash and parsley, or Masala Roast Cauliflower Sausages (£1.49), made with red onion, brown rice and yellow split peas.

Both products are plant-based and gluten-free.

They clock in at a pretty decent count of 49 calories per sausage and to be honest they look quite decent.

Whether or not we can tell the difference remains to be seen.
