The Cure could be bringing a wave of fresh material to the stage when they return to touring in 2027, according to frontman Robert Smith.
Smith shared the news during an appearance on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 6 Music show, confirming that more live dates are in the works while keeping the locations and schedule under wraps.
"I'm looking forward to more Cure concerts in 2027," Smith said. "Of course, I'm not allowed to say where or when yet, but I'm confident they will be bursting with new songs. Watch this space…"
The band’s return would follow a busy year on the road, including festival appearances at Primavera Sound, Rock en Seine and the Isle of Wight Festival.
They also played a major homecoming gig at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park while touring Songs Of A Lost World.
The prospect of new songs has been building for some time. Smith spoke in 2020 about plans for “two new albums and an album of noise”, and later said the record expected to follow Songs Of A Lost World was “virtually finished”.
The group recorded 13 tracks for the first of two planned albums at Rockfield Studios in March 2025.
Despite those sessions, neither project has been released, leaving fans waiting for the next chapter of the band’s music.
Smith’s latest comments suggest the unreleased material could finally feature in their live shows next year, although no dates or details have been confirmed yet.
