The story of ‘Pint Baby’ is all that you need to read today

A search to find a baby that necked a pint on live TV

Ah, 1997.

A simpler time when Radiohead released OK Computer, South Park first aired on TV and babies were allowed to drink pints of Guinness in pubs.

Wait, what?

Yes, you heard us correctly because ‘Pint Baby’ is the latest darling of the Internet and we have RTÉ journalist Cian McCormack to thank for this clip of nostalgic gold.

The footage originates from an archived episode of RTÉ’s show Nationwide that’s entitled ‘Single Women Scarce In Kerry,’ essentially a feature about dating in rural Ireland during the late 1990s.

While the segment itself isn’t exactly memorable, one particular moment stands out.

Having seen this footage, we’ve got so many questions.  The most pressing one is also the most obvious, who exactly is ‘Pint Baby’?

Since being posted over the weekend, the video has amassed over 777,000 views in a short space of time and it appears that the mystery has now been solved.

Due to the fact that the footage has gone viral, the RTÉ News have actually managed to track down ‘Pint Baby’ for an exclusive interview on tonight’s evening news.

To quote Ron Burgundy, it’s a “great story, compelling and rich.”
