In 2020, many of us turned to video games. In a year where we were trapped inside for many months, video games allowed us to escape to fictional worlds way beyond our bedrooms and living rooms. Animal Crossing gave us a farm to tend to, where the real outdoors was cut off. Multiplayer games like Among Us let us keep up with friends, even if we couldn't meet them in the flesh. And even something like The Last of Us Part II gave us a fictional apocalypse to lose ourselves in, and take our minds off the IRL one that was happening outside our door. And plenty happened in the world of gaming in 2020. Sony and Microsoft both launched their new generation of consoles, with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X hitting the streets in November (well done if you got your hands on one). Classic titles like Mario 64 got re-releases, introducing them to a whole new generation of players. The Sonic The Hedgehog movie finally came out.
