Spar’s £10 bottle of prosecco has been named the UK’s best

Paul Moore

For all you prosecco lovers at Christmas.

With some shoppers already planning ahead for Christmas, quality and value for money are always important factors at this time of year.

On that note, Spar’s Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOCG and Waitrose’s Blanc de Noirs Brut NV Champagne have been named as the ‘Best Buys’ in a recent quality survey by consumer group Which?

The quality experts scored Spar’s £10 bottle at 78%, praising its ‘pleasant balance,’ ‘savoury style’ and flavours of pear and white peach.

In terms of the other brands in this ‘prosecco top-three,’ Asda’s £6.50 Fillipo Sansovino Processo and Waitrose’s £10.99 San Leo Brut NV also made the grade.

Nikki Stopford, director of research at Which?, said that : “It just goes to show you don’t have to be a leading supermarket to achieve a Which? best buy accolade.  Shoppers can be confident of getting the best quality prosecco to enjoy over the festive period, knowing it has been independently tested by the Which? panel of experts.’

As always, if you’re enjoying a drink, please do so responsibly.
