Greggs issue apology after advent calendar launch replaces baby Jesus with sausage roll

Paul Moore

Not something you see every day.

Greggs has issued an apology after they released an advent calendar which shows a sausage roll in a manger instead of the baby Jesus.

A Greggs spokeswoman told The Northern Echo: ‘We’re really sorry to have caused any offence, this was never our intention.’

As is the norm, the company are selling their sweet and savoury treats as the countdown to Christmas begins.

Only recently, the Festive Bake made a triumphant return to their stores and with the news that they’re testing out home deliveries, it could be a very happy Christmas for some.

This being said, some people were upset by this image from their recent launch.

Mmm, sacrelicious.

Then again, didn’t one of the three wise men bring sausage rolls as a gift for Jesus? We’ll have to look it up.

Regarding the Greggs advent calendar, each door reveals a tear-off token that can be exchanged in a Greggs shop.

On Christmas Eve, a £5 gift card sits behind door 24 – but some lucky customers will find a surprise £25 gift card.

Well for some.
