Horror fans are being urged to Watch Midnight Mass ahead of Halloween.
The underrated Netflix series, which was released in September 2021, centres around an isolated island community - Crockett Island - that experiences miraculous events and frightening omens following the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest played by Hamish Linklater.
The seven-parter has been branded an "ambitious meditation on grief and faith that is as gorgeous as it is unsettling" by one critic and a "triumph of terror that will leave viewers shaking - and thinking - long after the credits roll."
Midnight Mass, from the producers of The Haunting of Hill House, has a critics score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 78%.
The story is told around Riley Flynn, played by Zach Gilford, who returns home to the island amid family dysfunction, and begins to realise strange things are going on outside his own home.
The Chicago Sun-Times called it "a memorably dark and gory and twisted saga", while The Hollywood Reporter's Dan Fienberg wrote: "I found it consistently committed and admirably bonkers, even when it tested my patience."
The series was recently recommended on the Netflix Daily Updates Facebook page which urged followers:" If you have NOT seen Midnight Mass binge it for Halloween 10000/10." Thirteen thousand people liked the post, 1.7k commented on it - largely saying it was a "great" and "fantastic" show and 1.8k shared the post.
