U.S. President Barack Obama has named his film of the year

We’re a bit disappointed he didn’t go for Sicario.

The war on drugs in Mexico, it seems, is a little close to home for the Obama family, so the President of the United States has gone for something out of this world as his favourite film of the year.

Obama has chosen Ridley Scott’s The Martian as his favourite movie of 2015 in a year-in-review piece for People Magazine.

The President’s favourite TV show of the year came in the form of Steven Soderbergh’s turn-of-the-century medical drama The Knick, his favorite song was Kendrick Lamar’s ‘How Much a Dollar Cost,’ and his favorite book was Lauren Groff’s Fates and Furies.

His wife Michelle chose Pixar’s Inside Out as her movie of the year, Black-ish as her favourite TV series, ‘Uptown Funk’ by Bruno Mars as her favourite song and Elizabeth Alexander’s memoir The Light of the World as her favorite book.
