This terrifying video captures the horror of the failed Mr Blobby theme park

Hell is real and it is pink with polka dots

Rich Cooper

Oh yeah, if you didn’t know: there was an attempt to launch a Mr Blobby theme park.

If you don’t know who Mr Blobby is, drop to your knees and thank your lucky stars that you have been spared, for God smiles upon thee.

Mr Blobby was a giant pink evil, created by the bearded menace Noel Edmonds. He terrorised British television for most of the ’90s, with his googley eyes, polka dot skin (not racist) and that voice, like a demonic vacuum cleaner fed through an AM radio.

For some reason, Mr Blobby was popular enough to give Noel Edmonds the confidence to launch a theme park based on the character. In 1994, Edmonds opened an attraction called ‘Crinkly Bottom’ (lol), of which Blobby’s theme park, named ‘Dunblobbin’, was a part.

In what must have been the biggest fucking shock of the century, the park was not a roaring success, and closed down in 1999. Dunblobbin was abandoned and left to rot. A number of urban explorers have broken into the site to have a snoop around, and those images are terrifying enough as it is.

But if you really want to shit your pants, and who doesn’t, take a look at this video, which appears to be taken before the park was abandoned. It is, if anything, one hundred times scarier. This is what punters would have actually been confronted with. This was meant to be fun.

Word of warning, the audio is louder than Motorhead, but it’s absolutely essential to the creepy vibe, and we’re all here for creepy vibes, aren’t we?

Enjoy. See you in hell, Blobby.
