Stars of the iconic 'The Inbetweeners' franchise have reportedly signed up for a third film with Netflix, and are keen for the return of one familiar face.
Rumours have been swirling for some time about an Inbetweeners reboot, with reports since last year saying the cast were keen to get the band back together and that an agreement had been struck.
Now, The Sun has reported that Netflix is set to bring the cast back together for a third film with the four fan-favourite original cast members.
Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison are all set to reprise their roles as the ragtag group of schoolmates awkwardly bumbling through teenage life.
However, there is one person that producers are keen to get onboard too - Emily Atack, best known for playing the role of Charlotte Hinchcliffe.
A TV insider told The Sun: “The creators of the show have written the script and are ready to roll, but Emily is one of the missing pieces in the project they’re keen to get in place.
“Fans will already be delighted that the four main leads are returning as there was concern that a reboot might see new, younger actors cast in the roles of the lads, who were all supposed to be teenagers in the show.
“But it’s fair to say getting Emily back would be the cherry on the Inbetweeners cake.”
The outlet reports that the biggest roadblock currently is to get all four main actors to align their diaries for filming and reprise their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Simon Cooper and Neil Sutherland.
All have been busy with acting roles, podcasts and the like, but Atack has been particularly hard to pin down, featuring in Disney's Rivals as well a new BBC legal drama called Reputation.
The Inbetweeners ran for three series from 2008 to 2010 on E4 and later Channel 4, later being made into two movies in 2011 and 2014.
The show was twice nominated at the Baftas and won three British Comedy Awards.
