The third entry in the notorious franchise is out in just a few weeks so now is the time to catch up.

The notorious horror movies Terrifier and Terrifier 2 have been added to Prime Video.

This is as the much-anticipated third film in the slasher franchise will land in cinemas in just a few weeks.

The first Terrifier flick was released in 2016 and revolves around the exploits of a mysterious killer clown named Art (David Howard Thornton).

This is as he targets two young women (Jenna Kanell and Catherine Corcoran) coming home from a Halloween party, before turning his attention to one of their sisters (Samantha Scaffidi).

A mean-and-lean low budget slasher horror with an iconic if deeply sinister villain, the movie cemented writer-director Damien Leone as a rising talent.

He followed it up six years later with Terrifier 2, an 140-minute epic in which Art does battle with a teenage girl (Lauren LaVera) and her younger brother (Elliott Fullam).

Made on a reported budget of $250,000 – a rise from the original’s $35,000–$55,000 – the sequel was a surprise hit, grossing $15.7 million at the box office.

And while it provoked controversy for its levels of violence – there were reports of people fainting and vomiting during screenings – it was very positively received by critics and fans.

In particular, LaVera and Thornton’s performances, the film’s memorably over-the-top gore, its black humour and its ambitious supernatural elements were singled out for praise.

As such, we’re now getting Terrifier 3 in theatres in a few weeks just in time for Halloween.

The plot synopsis for the horror reads:

“After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna (LaVera) and her brother (Fullam) are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind.

“But just when they think they’re safe, Art the Clown (Thornton) returns, determined to turn their holiday cheer into a new nightmare. The festive season quickly unravels as Art unleashes his twisted brand of terror, proving that no holiday is safe.”

And Leone has promised with the upcoming sequel that he has not toned down the gore levels.

Terrifier 3 will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest today (19 September) before being released theatrically in Ireland and the UK on 11 October.

Terrifier and Terrifier 2 are streaming on Prime Video now.
