Trailer finally revealed for Cillian Murphy’s first movie since Oppenheimer

Produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, the film looks incredible and has been earning rave reviews.

An adaptation of the acclaimed novella of the same from writer Claire Keegan (whose story Foster was the basis for the Oscar-nominated The Quiet Girl), the drama is set in 1985 in a small town in Wexford, Ireland in the run-up to Christmas.

Its plot synopsis reads:

"Bill Furlong (Murphy) toils as a coal merchant to support himself, his wife and his five daughters. Early one morning while out delivering coal at the local convent, he makes a discovery that forces him to confront his past and the complicit silence of a town controlled by the Catholic Church."

Boasting tons of talent both onscreen and off, the film was directed by Murphy's Peaky Blinders collaborator Tim Mielants and had its screenplay penned by acclaimed writer Enda Walsh (Hunger).

It was also produced by Murphy, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and its supporting cast includes Clare Dunne (Kin), Eileen Walsh (Catastrophe), Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Helen Behan (The Virtues) and Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones).

Having premiered at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival last February, Small Things Like These earned rave reviews - a sample of which you can read below:

Daily Telegraph (UK): "Small Things Like These is a tight-lipped Irish drama even more suffused with sadness than the log-line implies, and shouldered with hypnotic grace by a very special Cillian Murphy in his first post-Oppenheimer role."

The Guardian: "I was so rapt, so caught up in this film, that I wasn’t aware that it was going to be the ending until the screen faded to black. It is an absorbing, committed drama."

Small Things Like These lands in UK and Irish cinemas on 1 November.
